Which weekday does it land on? Always the same day: every one of the six years in the table puts Election Day on a Tuesday. What to expect on the day. Nothing closes. Shops, offices, schools and transport all run as normal, because this is a day people mark rather than a day they get off. That said, restaurants, florists and retailers often build around it, so booking ahead is sensible if you're planning to go out. In 2026 it falls in November, which also holds Daylight Saving Time ends on the 1st, Veterans Day on the 11th, Thanksgiving Day on the 26th and Black Friday on the 27th.
