Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Share a Calendar ("we", "us") collects when you use https://share-a-calendar.com (the "Site"), how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Site you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

  • Calendar notes. If you do not sign in, the notes you type are stored only in your own browser (localStorage) and never sent to us. If you create an account, your notes and calendar names are stored on our server so you can access them from other devices.
  • Account information. When you register we store your email address, an encrypted (hashed) password, your optional name and your preferences (country, week start). We never store passwords in plain text.
  • Newsletter. If you subscribe to the monthly reminder we store your email address and optional name. Every email contains an unsubscribe link.
  • Contact form. Messages you send us, with your email address and IP address (to prevent abuse).
  • Log data. Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, date/time) for security and troubleshooting.

Cookies

We use a small number of first-party cookies: a session cookie when you sign in, and preference cookies that remember your country, week start and display options. These are not used for tracking. Our Cookie Policy lists every cookie individually, explains what each one does and how long it lasts, and tells you how to control them.

Advertising – Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements, which is how we keep the Site free.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu (EU).
  • For more information on how Google uses data when you use our Site, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Visitors from the EEA, UK and Switzerland

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland you are shown a consent message, delivered through a Google-certified Consent Management Platform (IAB TCF v2.2), before any personalised advertising cookies are set. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the "Privacy & ad settings" link in the footer, or by clearing your cookies. Where consent is not given, Google may show non-personalised ads, which still use cookies for frequency capping and fraud prevention. Our legal bases for processing are your consent (advertising cookies, newsletter), the performance of a contract (your account) and our legitimate interests (security, statistics).

Analytics

We may use Google Analytics with IP anonymisation to understand which pages are popular. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

How we use your information

To provide the calendar service and your account, to send the monthly reminder you asked for, to respond to your messages, to keep the Site secure, and to display advertising. We do not sell your personal information.

Sharing

We share data only with service providers needed to run the Site (our hosting provider, and Google for advertising/analytics as described above), or when required by law. If you enable sharing for a calendar, anyone with the link can view its contents.

Data retention & your rights

Account data is kept until you delete your account (My Account › Delete account), which permanently removes all your calendars and notes. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. You have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict processing; contact us at support@share-a-calendar.com and we will respond within 30 days. EU residents may also lodge a complaint with their local data-protection authority. California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected and to request its deletion; we do not sell personal information.

Children

The Site is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA) and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS and passwords are stored using strong one-way hashing. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time; the date at the top shows the latest revision.
