About Make a Calendar

This builds a printable PDF for 2026, 2027 or 2028, to whatever spec you like. Want all twelve months at a glance? Choose yearly. Want room to actually write? Choose monthly, one month per page, and switch the notes section on. Two, four or six months to a page also works if you're planning a quarter.

Then set the paper size (Letter, Legal, Tabloid, A4 or A3), the orientation, whether weekends are shaded, whether grid lines print, and whose holidays to include. Weeks can start Sunday or Monday, and ISO week numbers are there if you need them, which most European users do.

Choosing the right layout

Pick the layout that matches how you'll use it. Monthly, one month per page, gives each day the most room, so it's the one for a wall or fridge calendar that gets written on by hand. Switch the notes section on and you also get a lined panel beside the grid for shopping lists or a running to-do list. Yearly squeezes all twelve months onto one page. Far too small to write in, but hard to beat as a desk reference for checking a date, counting weeks or planning leave months ahead. The two-month and four-month layouts sit in between and suit project planning, where you need to see past the end of this month but still want to scribble on it.

Paper size, orientation and margins

Letter (8.5 × 11 in) is standard in the US and Canada, A4 across Europe. Print an A4 design on Letter paper and most printers will scale it for you, but the margins come out odd, so match the size to whatever is actually in your tray. Landscape makes each day box wider, which is better for writing. Portrait makes it taller, which suits lists. For a proper wall planner, choose Tabloid (11 × 17 in) or A3 and take it to a copy shop. And if the grid looks cut off, try "Fit to page" before assuming the file is wrong.

Options worth knowing about

Week start sets the first column: Sunday in the US and Canada, Monday almost everywhere in Europe. Week numbers puts the ISO number down the side, which matters if your employer, school or shipping schedule runs on them. Shaded weekends makes Saturday and Sunday obvious at a glance. Grid lines can come off entirely for something cleaner, and the grid colour is yours to change if you're printing in colour. Pick a country and its public holidays and observances go straight onto the grid, so there's nothing to write in by hand.

Frequently asked questions

Is the PDF really free?: Yes. There is no watermark, no sign-up, no limit on how many you generate, and you may print and distribute the calendars you create, including at work.
Can I add my own events to the PDF?: Yes, but do it on the editable calendar first. Open a month page, click days and type, then use the Download PDF button there. Your notes and any colour highlights are carried into the file.
Which years can I make?: Any year in the dropdown, currently 2026 to 2028. Dates and holidays are calculated from rules, so future years are as accurate as the current one.
Why does my printer cut off the edges?: Most printers can't print right to the edge of the paper. Choose "Fit to page" or "Shrink oversized pages" in the print dialog and the whole grid will fit.
Can I put my company name on it?: Yes. Type it into the Title field and it is printed in the top-left corner of every page.
